Our Mission

Sierra 2 Heart for the Arts & Community serves as a regional incubator of the arts, education, culture, and community activities. Every bit the voice of the neighborhood, SCNA actively participates in preserving the heritage of and enhancing the quality of life in the Curtis Park neighborhood and throughout Sacramento by operating the Sierra 2 Center and the included Senior Activeness Center. Read our Strategic Programme.

Sierra 2 Heart

In the tardily 1970s, Curtis Park residents joined together to save Sierra School on 24th Street from demolition. The movement to save the school led to the formation of the Sierra Curtis Neighborhood Association (SCNA) in 1981. Today SCNA manages the transformed schoolhouse building, now called theSierra 2 Eye for the Arts and Community, equally a dynamic center for cultural and educational activities.

Advocacy and Stewardship

The Neighborhood Concerns Committee  advocates on the neighborhood's behalf in state use, transportation, and evolution projects before the City and the Planning Commission. NCC works with nearby neighborhood, business and community organizations tosupport and revitalize the Broadway and Franklin commercial corridors, protect trees, improve our local parks, and preserve the quality of life in Sacramento.
